David Tuohy – Operating Partner
David Tuohy joined Hudson in September 2011 initially as the CEO of Wind to Power System (W2PS), a Spanish company wholly owned by Hudson. After completion of the restructuring and sale of the solar and wind assets to an industrial group early 2014 he continued to work with Hudson as an Operating Partner. He is very engaged in driving change and growth at Powermat, an Israeli portfolio company, where he also led the CEO search committee. Currently David is a member of the board of Powermat and Vice Chairman of Zhejiang Wolong New Energy, a Chinese solar inverter manufacturer in which Hudson holds a significant minority stake formerly acquired via W2PS. He is also a Director of multiple Dutch holding companies owned by Hudson.
David has more than 20 years of experience in leadership positions in the telecoms and energy sectors. He has been responsible for multiple acquisitions and turnarounds including a large Dutch power and gas utility. He initiated several innovative projects including deployment of smart meters, a consumer energy portal, pre-paid energy and the first solar powered charging station for electric vehicles in the Netherlands. He also played a pivotal role in setting up the national energy savings program and worked with the Dutch government on regulatory reform.
David has spent the last 8 years focusing on cleantech and renewable energy. His solar PV experience encompasses the entire value chain. In addition to the development of distributed generation projects for utilities, commercial and residential customers he has also worked on power electronics for wind and smartgrid applications.
David graduated with an honors degree in Electronic Engineering from University College Dublin (UCD) in Ireland. Later he also followed executive programs on Strategy and M&A at UCLA and INSEAD.
