Zhongmin Shen – Partner, Head of China
Zhongmin Shen, an investment Partner, is responsible for the Chinese activities of Hudson, working from Hudson’s Beijing office. Formerly, Mr. Shen was the Chief Executive Offer of Huaneng Invesco WLR Investment Consulting Company Ltd., a joint venture of Huaneng, the leading Chinese power and energy conglomerate, and Invesco/WLRoss. Huanang Invesco WLR is the principal advisor to WLR China Energy Infrastructure Fund, a China-focused private equity fund focusing on clean and renewable energy and other energy-related investments. Prior to joining Huaneng Invesco WRL, Mr. Shen was Managing Director at China Light and Power Holdings Limited (“CLP”), the largest foreign investor in the power industry in China with generating capacities in wind, biomass, hydro, nuclear and coal-fired power. Prior to his time at CLP, Mr. Shen had over 12 years of experience in business development, energy project investment and financing, M&A and joint venture management in the power and energy industry in China, including holding senior positions at China Resources Power Holdings, Co., Ltd, majority owned by a major Chinese state-owned conglomerate, and Sithe Energies, Inc., a New York-Based independent power producer, where Mr. Shen was Managing Director of Sithe China Holdings Limited. Mr. Shen started his power and energy career in 1994 with Wheelabrator Technologies, Inc., a New York-listed energy and environmental services company which was majority owned by Waste Management, Inc. Mr. Shen holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry and an LLM from Beijing University and has earned an M.A. in Economics from the University of Tennessee and Executive MBA from Guanghua School of Management at Beijing University.
